“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.” —Bessel A. van der Kolk

We are relational beings whose understanding of self is developed by the ways in which we relate with others and the interactive relationship between thoughts, feelings, actions, and experiences. Each person has a unique and important story to tell, and I strive to create a safe space of non-judgement that encourages connection and growth. Therapy may not always be comfortable which is why I am committed to building a therapeutic relationship in which you feel challenged, accepted, and supported through authenticity and transparency.

My goal is to collaborate with you in discovering your strengths, identify your needs, understand conflicts, and to develop coping strategies and creative problem-solving skills that will set the foundation for lifelong success. I integrate developmental and relational skills in practice and will use an eclectic and often blended approach to fit your individual needs.

I understand that seeking help requires a great amount of strength and vulnerability and I consider it a privilege to assist you in your journey.

Often individuals who experience intellectual and/or developmental disabilities find it difficult to access mental health services. I work to understand the unique challenges they may face including differing ways of communicating emotions and experiences. My goal is to offer approaches which may include modified CBT that uses visualized language and incorporating visual and hands-on types of activities including art, movement, and play therapy.
