“You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.” – Pema Chodron

“The roots of resilience… are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of a loving, attuned, and self-possessed other.” – Diana Fosha

We learn through experience. And just as we are harmed in relationship, we heal in relationship. In therapy sessions, I keep us close to the experience in the room, attending to you emotionally and somatically, and bringing our here-and-now relating into the foreground.

I prioritize a deeply felt sense of safety, giving your nervous system a chance to relax and expand. We lean into feelings gradually, with the goal of becoming more and more comfortable being with them, holding them with care, and listening for their messages. I encourage you to put left brain thinking aside at times, attending to your body and listening for what you don’t already know. This often requires slowing way down—to a pace where you can feel what everything in you wants to protect.

I believe we all have a core, undamaged self that knows what we need and can therefore guide us. We also all have strategies of protection that interfere with our natural growth. Therapy can bring awareness and compassion to these strategies, so they become open to transformation. It can help us become more fully ourselves, able to stay open to the full range of human experience.

I have traveled extensively—both internally and externally—and have been doing clinical work since 2005. I have experience with a broad range of issues and specialize in Complex PTSD (aka relational trauma, disorganized attachment, etc.), chronic pain/illness, and couples therapy.
