“I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening—a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation.” —Peter A. Levine, Healing Trauma
As a counselor, I work collaboratively with clients, seeking to understand and support each person with their own individual goals. My practice is compassionate, humanistic, strengths-oriented, and trauma-informed, with a strong reliance on mindfulness and somatic based approaches.
I have experience working with grief and loss and the many symptoms of trauma (including anxiety, depression, insomnia, emotional dysregulation, chronic pain, and mood disturbances) that can deeply impair the way we want to live, and seriously debilitate our ability to feel truly alive.
My experience has shown me that each individual has a deep and unique capacity for healing, and that this journey of healing happens in a holistic way – when we are able to connect to and integrate the mind, the heart, and the body’s experiences; and in so doing, connect with others and the world in ways we may not have previously imagined.
I am also a writer, poet, and novelist, and find that imagination, creativity, and play are integral to help foster healing.
