“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” —bell hooks
I believe the capacity for healing and joy is present in each of us, and the path toward those involves moving through many of the emotions that many try to push away. With an approach centered on collaboration, compassion, genuine human connection, and maybe a touch of humor, I assist my clients in moving more gently through the processing of trauma, shame, and other deeply held core beliefs. This leads to greater self-awareness and understanding.
In addition to exploring your inner world, it is necessary to recognize and evaluate the many systems and societal/cultural standards that have caused oppression. This helps us better understand the patterns and stories in which you may feel stuck. Together, we can examine these ideas that have been passed down or otherwise bestowed upon you to discover what is truly yours.
I earned my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023 and have worked in the fields of healthcare and mental health for over 20 years, with a strong emphasis on honoring the experiences of the individuals I encounter. I integrate ideas from a variety of therapeutic styles, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Self-Compassion, Polyvagal Theory, Somatics, and Neurobiology. These modalities, among others, provide a means to understand behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, fostering a greater felt sense of safety and self-understanding.
It is one of the great honors of my life to be allowed into someone else’s story and to witness and help hold their pain or struggle for the time we are together in session.
